We believe what makes #DigPINS great is what happens in the conversations and interactions between participants, facilitators, and guests. It is hard to articulate this experience or provide it as a “template”. You can check out our blog and pages on course structure for a little more on how we create the experience.
However, each week or topic of #DigPINS has guiding questions, activities, and readings – you can think of this as the “content” of the experience. This page has an example of content from a recent deployment of #DigPINS. This example is shared to give you an idea of what a weekly topic looks like. If you would like to run #DigPINS on your campus feel free to take this example as a starting place. If you would like collaborate with others who have run #DigPINS in the past feel free to contact us.
Pedagogy
We strongly suggest that week 3 of a #DigPINS iteration focus on Pedagogy. After thinking about one’s own identity and networked interactions, participants are encouraged to think about possibilities in the context of their teaching. If we think of learning extending outside classrooms, what is already happening or what can happen in digital spaces?
All activities during the four weeks are models of what instructors may want to do with students.
Some of the guiding questions are:
- How can you use digital spaces in your courses?
- What have others done?
- What do online spaces afford students?

- Social Annotation Wednesday July 10th – all day – If you have never used the online annotation tool Hypothes.is before then you are in for a treat this week as we will be collectively annotating an article by Dave Cormier. You can drop in for annotations any time throughout the week but we are especially encouraging annotations on Wednesday – pop in throughout the day for a few minutes to check out new annotations and add a few of your own.
